How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser uses light, that is converted into heat, the heat travels down the hair shaft to the root where it destroys the connection between the blood supply and the hair. This heat damages the root of the hair follicle which causes the hair to get weaker and grow back thinner and more sparadicly. Around 10 sessions on average is required to reduce up to 80% of the hair.
Do I need a consultation first before starting Laser?
Consultations are done prior to each treatment done at Just Laser Beauty. After the consultation if you are happy to proceed with a treatment this can be done on the day- time dependant.
What type of Laser do you use?
We have imported a German manufactured machine from Syneron, called the Candela Gentle Lase Mini.
This is a medical grade FDA approved machine and one of the best on the market for safely reducing hair on ALL skin types.
A free test patch would be performed prior to starting treatment to ensure the appropriate levels are being used.

Does laser work on all types of hair & skin tones?
Our laser, Candela Gentle Lase MINI is suitable for ALL skin tones, test patches are available free of charge to ensure effectiveness of the treatment prior to starting laser hair removal. For hair removal to be effective , the hair needs to be dark in color, RED BLONDE, GREY or WHITE hair will not respond to treatment as there is no pigment inside the hair follicle for the laser light to grab, if you are unsure, please book an appointment to see us for an asessment.
Is there any aftercare following my laser hair removal appointment?
Yes , your skin may appear a little red after treatment this can last 24 - 48 hours it is recommended to apply Aloe Vera Gel to the area- this can be purchased from us.
No hot bath/ shower/ gym/ spa or sauna for 24 hours.
Stay out of direct sun for 5-7 days after your treatment as you skin may be photosensitive over the areas treated.
Do not exfoliate until 5 days post laser.
We provide an aftercare sheet for both laser and skin treatments for you to take home.

Before your Laser appointment: PREP:
Please shave all areas 24 hours before you come in for a laser hair removal appointment, the hair needs to be as short as possible for the laser light to penetrate to the hair root.
Please avoid using fake tan 2 weeks prior to your treatment.
Avoid body lotions/creams on the areas you are having treated and please do not use deodorant if you are having your underarms done.
You must not have waxed, tweezed or threaded the area within 2 weeks for face and 4 weeks for body treatments.
Any sunburn or trauma to the area to be treated will require your appointment to be reschedulded.

Skin Treatments- Microdermabrasion, Resurfacing, Skin peels & Facials will my skin appear red afterwards?
Your skin may appear red after any of our skin treatments, when we are deep cleaning the skin/ removing layers of dead skin / using active ingredients it is normal to see erythema on the skin. This usually subsides within 24 - 48 hours, it is recommended not to apply make up over any area treated and to leave the skin to heal on its own with the use of Aloe Vera gel as required.

100 % all Beauty Therapists at Just Laser Beauty, have graduated with a Diploma of Beauty Therapy , as well as additional certificates such as ITEC & Cidesco , First Aid Certificate, NZQA certified , Advanced Dermal Needling and a current NZ First Aid Certificate. We are constantly up skilling to keep up to date with the latest trends and safety requirements.
